Lower School Language Studies Come to Life in Paris

During the summer holidays, Years Seven and Eight pupils travelled to Paris for an exciting cultural and educational visit, bringing their French studies to life while experiencing some of the city’s most famous landmarks, history and traditions.

Throughout the trip, pupils had the opportunity to explore Paris beyond the classroom, using their language skills in real-life situations and developing greater confidence in communicating in French. Time spent navigating the city, visiting local attractions and experiencing everyday French culture helped pupils to connect their learning with the world around them.

Among the highlights was a visit to Montmartre, where pupils explored the historic streets and visited the Sacré-Cœur, taking in impressive views across the city. The group also visited the Arc de Triomphe and Eiffel Tower, providing the opportunity to see some of Paris’s most recognisable landmarks first-hand.

A cruise along the River Seine offered a different perspective of the capital, allowing pupils to see many of the city’s famous buildings and monuments while learning more about Parisian history and architecture. These experiences helped deepen pupils’ cultural understanding and complemented their studies in French.

The trip concluded with a visit to Disneyland Paris, providing an enjoyable finale and another opportunity for pupils to spend time together outside the classroom.

Combining language learning with culture, history and shared experiences, the visit provided pupils with a valuable opportunity to build confidence, broaden their understanding of France and create lasting memories with their peers.
