Golf Team Secure Opening Win in ISGA Matchplay
RGS began their ISGA Matchplay campaign with a hard-fought and impressive victory over Bristol Grammar School at Gaudet Luce Golf Complex.
Making her debut for RGS, talented national golfer Maisie Whittall (plus 3 handicap) faced a strong and experienced opponent. Despite showcasing her exceptional skill and composure throughout, Maisie narrowly lost her match.
With RGS trailing early, Max Wesley, who has worked hard to lower his handicap over the past year, stepped up in fine form. Playing with great consistency and confidence, he secured a convincing 4 & 3 win to level the overall score.
The deciding match then came down to Ciaran Hession-Wilson, who delivered a dominant performance from the very first hole. Maintaining his focus and control throughout, Ciaran closed out the match emphatically with a 7 & 5 victory, sealing the overall result for RGS Worcester – 2 matches to 1.
It was an excellent team performance, showing depth, determination, and promise for the rounds ahead in the ISGA Matchplay tournament. We now play Clifton College in the next round after Half term.
