Former Pupil Signs Professional Contract with West Bromwich Albion
Former RGS Worcester pupil Maxwell Moses has signed his first professional contract with West Bromwich Albion, marking a major milestone after more than a decade with the Club.
Maxwell’s journey with West Bromwich Albion began at a young age through the Club’s Development Centre before officially joining the Academy at Under Seven level. Now preparing to begin his 11th season with Albion this June, the goalkeeper’s professional contract represents years of commitment, discipline and hard work.
Originally from London, Maxwell grew up in Worcester and joined West Bromwich Albion from local side Worcester Colts. Alongside his progress at Club level, he has also represented England at both Under 16 and Under 17 level and has already featured 20 times for Albion’s Under 18 side, alongside appearances for the Premier League 2 team.
During his time at RGS Worcester, Maxwell balanced school life alongside the demands of elite-level Football, training four evenings each week while also attending additional daytime training sessions as part of the Academy programme. Following his GCSEs, he accepted an early scholarship offer with West Bromwich Albion, allowing him to continue pursuing Football full-time alongside his studies.
Maxwell has since enjoyed an outstanding first year as a scholar and was recently rewarded with his first professional contract, an exceptional achievement at this stage of his Football journey.
Reflecting on the achievement, Maxwell said: “I felt honoured to sign a professional contract early, a dream come true. It’s taken many years and hard work, but it’s all been worth it.”
Speaking about Maxwell’s progress, Academy Manager Richard Stevens described him as “an athletic, powerful shot-stopper” and praised both his commitment to the Club and the experience he has gained through the England youth set-up.
Signing a first professional contract with a Championship club is a hugely impressive achievement and a proud moment for Maxwell, his family and everyone who has supported him along the way. Everyone at RGS Worcester congratulates Maxwell on this exciting next step and looks forward to supporting and celebrating his future achievements.
