Festivities at The RGS Worcester Family of Schools
The RGS Worcester Family of Schools embraced the festive season with warmth, generosity and a strong sense of community as the Michaelmas term drew to a close. Despite a busy period of assessments and end-of-term activities, pupils and staff came together to support local charities and to enjoy the traditions that make this time of year so memorable. Throughout the week, Food Bank donations were delivered to the Pastoral Secretary, Mrs Sturdy, with families once again giving generously. The Worcester Food Bank Appeal remains an ongoing initiative and the organisation continues to express sincere appreciation for the support shown by our School community in helping those across the city who need it most.
Earlier in the week, members of DMCs, the School’s all-male a cappella group, visited the Myriad Centre where they performed a programme of festive music for clients. Their visit was warmly received and reflected the charitable spirit that underpins so many of the School’s activities at this time of year.
A number of seasonal highlights contributed to the atmosphere across the School, including Christmas with the Big Band and the annual Carol Service at Worcester Cathedral. The Cathedral was filled with music as pupils and staff joined together for the Service, and a retiring collection raised an impressive £954.95 for Worcester Snoezelen. Pupils also enjoyed the much-anticipated Christmas Lunch, a wonderful opportunity for the whole School community to come together before the end of term.
Christmas Jumper Day, held today, brought a cheerful burst of colour and friendly House rivalry as pupils and staff took part in a whole-School challenge while raising funds for Acorns Children’s Hospice, the Sixth Form’s chosen charity for the academic year. The House with the highest number of participants was crowned the winner, adding a spirited conclusion to the final day of term.
As the RGS Worcester Family of Schools concluded the Michaelmas term, the community demonstrated generosity, creativity and togetherness in abundance. We wish all families a joyful Christmas and a restful break!
