‘Au Revoir’ Mrs Caple
Fiery, passionate, uncompromising at times, and always the advocate for pupils achieving their best outcomes, Mrs Ellie Caple, Head of Chemistry, will definitely be remembered at RGS!
With Covid-19 measures ensuring laboratory doors being always open, you definitely knew when Mrs Caple was teaching nearby. High octane pedagogy, relentless questioning, either old school or through the mayhem of ‘quizlet live’, and the odd choice phrase, meant that we were as entertained as the pupils! Her competitive nature, whether it was with pupil results, impromptu volleyball games or even staff indoor rowing, often rubbed off onto her pupils who strived to be better under her tutelage. She instilled confidence in those pupils who needed it, and greater belief in those who doubted. If you have been fortunate to have been taught by Mrs Caple at RGS, you will remember this together with the Chemistry you covered, for many years in the future.
But it is not just in the Chemistry Department where Mrs Caple’s departure from RGS will be felt. In Ellie’s time here, she has delivered seminars to the School’s Middle Leadership Development Programme, mentored newly qualified teachers, played an active role in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme and a superb Form Tutor.
We wish Mrs Caple all the very best as she leaves for a promotion to support and develop the quality of teaching in a multi-academy trust. We hope that this is not goodbye, but more of a temporary ‘au revoir’ and she will keep in touch with RGS.
