An Exciting Start to the Season for RGS Netball
The 1st and 2nd VII Netball teams enjoyed their first tournament of the academic year last Saturday, hosted at the University of Worcester Indoor Arena. The tournament proved to be an excellent day of competition for both RGS teams. The 1st team delivered some outstanding performances, setting the tone for what promises to be an exciting season. Their determination and skill were clear in each match, with results that reflected their hard work: a 24–16 win against the University 2nds, a thrilling 27–16 victory over King’s Worcester, and a highly enjoyable encounter against the RGS 2nds where both sides mixed players and tried new positions. In their final game, the 1st team faced the University 1sts, narrowly missing out with a 16–22 scoreline. Finishing in second place overall, just behind the University 1sts, the team showed they are ready for a strong season ahead.
The RGS 2nd team also made the most of the opportunity, gaining valuable match experience against challenging opposition. The tournament gave players the chance to explore different combinations and build confidence on court, ensuring plenty of positives to take forward into future fixtures.
