A Level Geography Students Undertake Fieldwork in Slapton
A Level Geography students recently travelled to Slapton in Devon to apply their classroom learning in a range of fieldwork settings, while developing research skills for their Non-Examined Assessment (NEA).
Over the course of the visit, students explored a range of fieldwork techniques across contrasting locations, including the historic town of Totnes, the coastal stretch between Start Point and Slapton, and the surrounding agricultural landscape.
While staying at the Field Studies Centre, students also took part in statistical and GIS masterclasses, gaining experience in advanced analytical and presentation techniques to support their independent investigations.
Although conditions were favourable at the start of the trip, the weather changed on the main data collection day. Students demonstrated resilience and determination as they continued their fieldwork in challenging conditions, including heavy rain and strong winds.
Now back at School, students have begun analysing and writing up their research as part of their NEA coursework and teaching staff look forward to reviewing their findings.
Thank you to the Geography teachers and the committed students for braving the weather to make this important trip a success.
