Navigating the Future of Education
Educators from schools across the UK and around the world gathered to learn about RGS Worcester’s innovative approach to integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into education during a webinar held on Tuesday evening.
This webinar was hosted by the London Grid for Learning (LGFL) and chaired by Ty Goddard, Head of EdTech UK. Over 50 teachers participated, listening to a 30-minute presentation delivered by Mr John Jones, Director of Innovation at RGS Worcester, and Mr Matt Warne, Head of Computing and Digital Innovation at RGS The Grange. Both emphasised our Family of School’s practical approach to harnessing the power of Large Language Model (LLM) AI models, which are now widely accessible online.
During the presentation, John Jones showcased how Professional Development has played a pivotal role in enhancing our staff’s skills and introducing them to the concepts and challenges of AI in education. He also highlighted how our teachers are gradually incorporating AI into their teaching methods, always mindful of the authenticity, bias, and reliability issues associated with AI software. Matt Warne then demonstrated how we are introducing AI to our Prep School pupils. He explained how pupils are learning the mechanics of machine learning and gaining hands-on experience in training AI systems. Simultaneously, they are being made aware of the potential pitfalls and concerns that are essential in our increasingly AI-aware world.
We take pride in being at the forefront of digital innovation at RGS Worcester and are excited to share our approach to promoting AI literacy among both teachers and pupils. Our aim is to assist other schools in navigating the exciting yet challenging landscape of AI in education.
