Making Waves at the ESSA Relays Regional Swimming Qualifier
Following our success last year in reaching the National Finals, we commenced the 2023 journey on Tuesday afternoon at Malvern College with the Regional qualifying round. It was fantastic to see so many RGS pupils representing their School (34 pupils) and we were able to enter B teams for the first time this year, which gave the pupils greater opportunity to demonstrate their swimming prowess.
Across the age groups, there were a number of really strong performances, and we now await the results from the other Regional qualifying events to see if we have qualified for the National Finals again. This year the National Finals will be held a bit closer to home at the Sandwell Aquatics Centre. If we do qualify, I am sure the pupils will look forward to swimming in the pool that was used for the recent Commonwealth Games.
Many thanks to the RGS parents and Miss Pollard for assisting with timekeeping and support on Tuesday and the RGS Worcester Swimming Academy coaches, Jon Fletcher and Mark Hill for the hard work with the preparation and on the day.
