A Week-Long Celebration of European Day of Languages
Every year, on 26 September, schools across Europe celebrate European Day of Languages to celebrate the 225 languages spoken across Europe. At RGS Worcester, we don’t limit our celebration to just one day; we make it a week-long festivity!
This week, pupils took part in a variety of language-themed activities. From House Pétanque to immersive Italian language lessons, our pupils had the chance to delve into the world of languages. One of the standout experiences was our “la dolce vita” taster session, allowing pupils to savour a taste of the sweet life, Italian style.
In Year Nine, pupils enthusiastically participated in‘The Great Quizlet Match Up Mayhem’. This year’s edition of the language-themed Quizlet added an exciting twist to their lessons, making learning languages an engaging and competitive adventure.
In Form groups, pupils put their language skills and cultural knowledge to the test by participating in ‘The Great Foreign Languages Quiz’. Prizes were awarded to those who achieved the highest scores in both the Year and the entire School, motivating everyone to embrace the diversity of languages.
Pupils also enjoyed themed meals at lunchtimes with food from various corners of Europe. They enjoyed delectable dishes from a café in France, indulged in the flavours of Tuscany and immersed themselves in the diverse culinary traditions of Germany.
Today we also welcomed our Spanish Exchange pupils, we hope they enjoy their time here at RGS Worcester and enjoy School life.
At RGS Worcester, we believe in fostering a love for languages that goes beyond borders and boundaries. European Day of Languages is a testament to our commitment to embracing diversity and celebrating the rich mosaic of languages that make Europe such a fascinating place.
Thank you to all our pupils and staff for making this week a memorable celebration of linguistic and cultural diversity!
