National ‘Fashion Icon’ Competition Finalist
We are delighted to announce that Lower Sixth student Frankie Reed has been selected as a finalist in the ‘Fashion Icon’ Competition, a national school competition open to all pupils aged 13-18 years.
The competition, organised by ICHF Events, challenges pupils each year to explore a different theme. The theme this year is a testament to the life works of Vivienne Westwood, with research from her decades of design through to the submission of a design inspired by one of her iconic collections.
Five of our Year Ten pupils entered alongside three Lower Sixth students, Frankie has done remarkably well to be selected as one of ten Finalists and will now construct her design to showcase on the catwalk at the Fashion, Embroidery and Stitch Show.
Frankie commented: “I am absolutely delighted to have been selected as a finalist for the Final of the Fashion Icon Competition, I am so looking forward to showcasing my designs on March 15 at the NEC. This will be a fantastic experience and an opportunity that I am so grateful for”.
Head of Textiles, Mrs Jo Bishop commented, “I am delighted that Frankie has been selected as a finalist. It is a fantastic achievement, and she should be incredibly proud of herself. I am so looking forward to seeing her design idea come to life on the catwalk at the NEC and supporting her throughout the process”.
Last year, three RGS pupils achieved a clean sweep of 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions in the National Final of the Competition.
Congratulations to Frankie! The RGS community wishes you every success with the Final of the competition, and we look forward to seeing your designs come to life.
