Five Fashion Finalists In National Schools Competition
We are delighted to announce that five RGS Worcester Textile Scholars have been selected as finalists in the ‘Fashion Icon’ Competition, a national school competition open to all pupils aged 13-18 years.
The competition, organised by ICHF Events, challenges pupils each year to explore a different theme. This year’s theme was ‘Thrift-Flip’ where competitors were tasked with designing a carnival inspired piece from a pre-loved wedding dress.
RGS Worcester pupils made up a remarkable five of the ten finalists in the competition. These five pupils will now have just a few weeks to make their vision become a reality and create their final garment ready to be exhibited at the Fashion, Embroidery and Stitch Show, held at the NEC on 17 March.
The finalists for this year’s competition include:
Teyah Farmer – Lower Sixth
Isabella Price – Lower Sixth
Grace Horrocks – Year Ten
Isabelle Lowe – Year Nine
Heidi Porter – Year Nine
Head of Textiles, Mrs Jo Bishop commented, “I was so thrilled to hear that five RGS pupils have been selected as finalists. It really is a tremendous achievement, of which they should all be incredibly proud. I’m so looking forward to seeing Teyah’s, Isabella’s, Grace’s, Isabelle’s and Heidi’s final designs”.
Last year, two RGS Worcester pupils achieved first and second positions in this national competition. The two pupils, Lower Sixth student, Emily Harper and Year Nine pupil, Grace Horrocks, both reached the final of the competition, with a further RGS Lower Sixth student, Emily Weller, receiving a Highly Commended award.
Congratulations to the five finalists! The RGS community wishes you every success with the final of the competition, and we look forward to seeing your designs come to life.
