Double County Tennis Success at Manor Park

Two members of the RGS Worcester community enjoyed an excellent day at the Hereford & Worcestershire County Mixed Championships, held at Manor Park.

Director of Drama, Mrs Jilly Witcomb, and her long-standing doubles partner, Ben, were crowned Over 50s County Mixed Champions after competing against pairings from across the county.

Lower Sixth student Daisy also enjoyed outstanding success alongside her partner, Charlie. The pair won all of their group matches before progressing through the quarter-final, semi-final and Final. In a closely contested championship match, they defeated the reigning County Mixed Champions, former pupil Kate Horsburgh and her partner, Mike, 6-3, 7-6 (11-9).

The achievement was made even more special by the connection between the two winners. Mrs Witcomb has supported Daisy throughout her Tennis journey since she joined RGS Worcester five years ago, making it particularly fitting that both were crowned County Mixed Champions on the same day.
