Celebrating the Rugby Season
On Monday 4 December we celebrated RGS Rugby and the successes and learning from this busy Rugby season at the Middle School and Senior Boys’ Rugby Dinner.
Again this year, the Rugby Dinner was an informal event held in Main Hall, allowing pupils to socialise and enjoy the company of their peers and reflect on the Rugby season. In attendance were players who have represented RGS Rugby at Under 14, Under 15, Under 16, 2nd XV and 1st XV levels, with the evening being a momentous occasion as it was one of the final opportunities to celebrate as a team as the Rugby season draws to a close.
In total, over 100 pupils attended the Dinner together with many of the Rugby coaches. The evening was a chance to thank parents, pupils and the wider RGS Sport family for their dedication and contribution to RGS Rugby over the season. It also provided opportunities to hand out prizes for Player of the Season and Charter Awards for each team.
The Player of the Season Awards presented during the evening were as follows:
1st XV Josh Fisher
2nd XV Zak Crowther-Green
3rd XV Liam Chadwick
Under 15A Lucas Bray
Under 15B Ben Andrews
Under 14A Mick Ashton
Under 14B Fred Witte
Awards for the Junior age group teams were presented in Games lessons, with a further three players in each group receiving recognition awards.
Mr Rob Lewis, Head of Rugby, said: “It was a fantastic evening, marking the culmination of a highly satisfying first term of RGS Worcester Sport. The Rugby programme has shown continuous growth and improvement, making this Dinner an ideal occasion to reflect upon and celebrate the advancements achieved. I would like to express my gratitude to all those who have played a role in propelling the Rugby provision forward again this season.
Congratulations to those whose accomplishments were acknowledged through the Awards and to all of the players for contributing to a highly enjoyable and successful Rugby season. I extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended the event, contributing to the overall enjoyment of the evening. A special appreciation goes to our Catering team for delivering an excellent meal, befitting the significance of the occasion”.
Next week the Girls will mark the end of their first term of Sport with their Girls’ Hockey Dinner.
