16th Modus Challenge Cup Match at Sixways Stadium Awaits
Excitement is mounting at RGS as the 1st XV Rugby squad prepares to compete in this year’s hotly-anticipated Modus Challenge Cup match. The RGS Worcester team will play against local rivals, King’s Worcester at the impressive Sixways Stadium at 2.00pm on Sunday 10 December.
Now in its 16th year, this annual event is very much one of the highlights of the School Calendar, providing an opportunity for both teams to show their pace and power on the pitch. The opportunity to play at Sixways Stadium is one that the players will never forget and the fixture is eagerly anticipated by the RGS team.
Captain of the 1st XV Rugby squad, Dan Halkon, commented: “We, as a squad, are extremely excited as the final week is finally upon us! The entire squad feels well-prepared to take the field at Sixways Stadium, thanks to the dedication of our coaching staff and players. It is a tremendous honour for us to have the opportunity to represent RGS in this monumental event.
As Sunday afternoon approaches, there is a strong sense of anticipation and significance. This time will be cherished by everyone involved, and playing in front of our friends and families is an added bonus and something to which we have all been looking forward. The tremendous support shown for the squad is truly monumental and will undoubtedly play a crucial role in the success of our performance.”
Vice Captain Archie Davies added: “As the Modus Challenge Cup match approaches, we are growing more and more excited to be able to represent the School at Sixways Stadium. To have the opportunity to play in an event such as the Modus Challenge Cup fixture at school boy level is a huge privilege and to be able to do so with such a hard- working squad is a further honour. We are looking forward to Sunday when we can put the hard work and planning into action, hopefully putting in the performance that demonstrates this.”
Final comments came from Vice Captain Joe Callow, who said: “The pinnacle of Rugby at RGS Worcester has to be playing for the Modus Challenge Cup. It is a significant honour to be selected in a fixture of this prestige. I am thankful to the wider Senior squad and the coaches for putting us in the best position possible to perform in the upcoming fixture. We are aware of how this game in particular inspires younger Years at RGS and hope that the game can fulfil these aspirations, strengthening the future of RGS Rugby.”
Supporters are welcome to attend and tickets can be purchased from the Sixways Ticket Office on the day of the match priced at £6 each for Under 19s and £8.50 for adults.
