Revolution 9 Take to the Stage at Sunshine Festival

Former RGS Worcester pupils Ozzy Beswick, Ollie Gould, Will Hughes and Kieran Lilley were joined by current Upper Sixth student Sihan as they took to the stage at Sunshine Festival in Upton-upon-Severn over the summer holidays, performing together as their band, Revolution 9.

Formed at RGS, the group spent time rehearsing and refining their set ahead of the Festival. Despite arriving to wet weather and muddy conditions, the skies began to clear as their performance approached, with sunshine breaking through as they took to the Arts Stage.

Revolution 9 performed an energetic set of well-known covers, including Billy Joel’s ‘Movin’ Out’, Queen’s ‘Somebody to Love’, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ ‘Can’t Stop’, Elton John’s ‘Rocket Man’, Kings of Leon’s ‘Use Somebody’ and The Killers’ ‘Mr Brightside’, before returning for an encore of Robbie Williams’ ‘Angels’.

The performance attracted a large audience, with lead singer Kieran drawing on his previous experience of performing at Sunshine Festival and other venues to engage with the crowd throughout the set.

Reflecting on the experience, Ozzy said: “The performance went incredibly well and we amassed a large audience on the Arts Stage. Overall, Revolution 9 had great success and we have all taken an enjoyable experience from the Sunshine Festival.”

Following their performance, the group were able to enjoy the Festival together, rounding off a memorable opportunity to perform in front of a live audience.
