Silver Medal Success at the All England Dance Festival

Year Eleven pupil Poppy enjoyed outstanding national success over the summer holidays, securing a silver medal at the All England Dance National Finals in Eastbourne and placing second in the country in the Contemporary Trio category.

Competing with Harlequin Stage School, Poppy also received two further silver medals and a bronze medal for three group dances, completing an excellent set of results across the nine-day National Finals. A Grade 8 Ballet student, Poppy enjoyed an exceptionally busy competition season in the lead-up to the event, taking part in more than 20 dances at the Regional Finals in Cheltenham in May, with 15 qualifying for the National Finals.

After competing throughout the nine days in Eastbourne, Poppy’s Contemporary Trio took to the stage on the final day of the Festival, making their silver medal particularly memorable. Reflecting on the achievement, Poppy said: “I’m thrilled to be awarded these after two years of hard work and preparation in rehearsals. It’s been a long journey.”

Poppy’s love of Dance began at just two years old while she was at RGS The Grange Nursery, where she first danced with Mrs Thompson, before joining Harlequin Stage School aged four. Her latest success therefore marks another exciting milestone in a Dance journey spanning many years.

Now in Year Eleven, Poppy is looking forward to continuing her Dance commitments alongside her GCSE studies. Congratulations to Poppy on an excellent national achievement and we look forward to following her continued success in Dance.
