Sports Day Celebrates ‘Sport for All’ at RGS Worcester
This week, pupils and students across RGS Worcester enjoyed taking part in Sports Day, with separate events for the Lower School, Middle School and Sixth Form held at St Oswald’s Sports Field.
Across the Sports Days, pupils competed in a full programme of track and field activities, from 100m sprints through to 1500m races, alongside relays, High Jump, Long Jump, Shot Put, Discus and Javelin. Sixth Form events were also included, giving students the opportunity to contribute to the House competition.
With events taking place across St Oswald’s Fields, there was plenty for pupils to enjoy, whether competing on the track, taking part in field events or supporting their Houses from the sidelines. It was a lively and enjoyable celebration of ‘Sport for All’ at RGS Worcester.
We were also pleased to see a number of new School records set, reflecting the determination, talent and commitment shown by pupils across the events.
Thank you to the large number of parents who joined us to encourage and applaud the athletes in the sunshine. It was lovely to see so much support for our Sports Days.
The results contributed towards the overall House competition, with Elgar, Ottley, Whiteladies and Wylde all well represented throughout. After a closely contested series of events, Whiteladies finished in first place with 963.5 points, followed by Wylde in second place with 902.5 points. Elgar finished third with 829 points, while Ottley completed the standings in fourth place with 677 points.
Congratulations to all pupils and students who took part and thank you to the PE Department and staff involved in organising such a successful series of Sports Day events.
