RGS Worcester Awarded Gold School Games Mark
We are delighted to announce that RGS Worcester has once again achieved the prestigious School Games Mark Gold Award for the 2024/25 academic year, a reflection of our continued commitment to sport, physical activity and competitive opportunity for all pupils.
The School Games Mark is a government-led awards scheme that celebrates schools across England for their dedication to promoting physical activity and developing competitive sport both within the curriculum and the wider community. Schools are evaluated against national benchmarks in four key areas: participation, competition, workforce and club connections. Gold status recognises excellence in all of these areas.
To achieve the Gold Award, RGS Worcester demonstrated:
High levels of pupil participation, with a significant number of students engaging in regular physical activity.
A broad and inclusive programme of sporting competition, both internal and external.
An enthusiastic and active student leadership team supporting the delivery of Sport across Year groups.
Strong partnerships with local clubs and community organisations, extending sporting opportunities beyond the School gates.
In verifying the School’s application, the School Games Organiser commented: “It is incredibly clear that PE, school sport and physical activity is held in the highest regard at RGS, through your engagement in events and through the opportunities given to students. I know you work tirelessly to achieve this.”
Acting Head of PE, Mr Stefan Sekula said: “We are thrilled to have retained the School Games Mark Gold Award. This recognition reflects the talent and enthusiasm of our pupils and the dedication of our staff, coaches and wider community. Sport at RGS is about much more than competition – it’s about wellbeing, teamwork and giving every pupil the chance to achieve their personal best.”
RGS Worcester now continues to work toward the Platinum Award, which is awarded to schools that maintain Gold-level standards over a number of consecutive years.
