Cross-Country Teams Excel at Regional Final of ESSA Cup
Last week, our Intermediate Boys’ and Girls’ Cross-Country teams participated in the West Central regional final of this year’s ESSA Cross-Country cup. They faced tough competition from schools spread from Gloucestershire to Cheshire and acquitted themselves very well. In the familiar surroundings of Bromsgrove School, weather conditions were near-perfect for Cross-Country running – cool, dry and still – leading to some excellent performances from our Years Nine and Ten pupils.
Harry Pickup led the team home in 39th place in the Boys’ race, with Fraser Rusling close behind in 43rd, helping the team secure 12th position overall. Meanwhile, in the Girls’ race, Lexi Agoston produced another excellent run to finish in an impressive 3rd place. With Evie Kilby, Immy Warne, Claudia Barker and Fleur Higgs all running commendably to finish within the top 50, the team achieved a very creditable 5th place overall.
Well done to all those who participated! Our focus now turns to the individual Cross-Country competitions, which will get underway later this Half term.
Mr Stephen Alexander, Head of Cross-Country
