Rowing Team Takes on Elite Training at Le Temple-sur-Lot
Over the Half term break, the RGS Rowing team travelled to Le Temple-sur-Lot for an intensive week of training, Rowing, team bonding and skill development. Rowers enjoyed their Rowing Camp at La Base, a world-class training venue Olympic athletes used as an acclimatisation site for the Paris 2024 Games. Located in southwest France, La Base offered top-tier facilities, a high-performance gym, and quality accommodation, making it an ideal setting for athletic development.
Each day included tailored on-water sessions focused on improving technique using the 40km of river. Off the water, athletes benefited from La Base’s exceptional gym and recovery facilities, with strength training, mobility exercises, and video analysis sessions to refine form and strategy. Rowers also participated in team-building activities and, of course, the training camp quiz. The whole camp developed a strong sense of unity across the 18 rowers from Years Ten to Upper Sixth. The rowers were accompanied by Mr Messent, Miss Tuckwood, Mr Hales and Mrs Whiteley from the Rowing team and Miss Airey from the Netball team.
By the end of the week, rowers returned to the UK more unified and prepared for the Head season, equipped with technical improvements, endurance, and motivation.
We hope all rowers enjoyed their time in France and wish them the best of luck for the Rowing season.
