Going the Distance: Success for RGS Worcester Alumnus
Former pupil George Beardmore has had a great year of success in Cross Country and distance Running. In July, George became the national Under 23 5000m champion. This first national win has given George the confidence to aim for his first international selection within the next few months.
After completing his studies at RGS Worcester in 2019, George, a former Athlete Development Programme (ADP) student, has combined his degree at Loughborough University with training opportunities including an upcoming month-long altitude training camp in South Africa. Indeed, George has been so successful in his Running that he will be extending his degree course by a year to give him time to train and compete alongside his academic studies.
George said, “I’m really looking forward to January’s training camp. I’m hoping the altitude camp in South Africa will really help with my aim for next year which is to be selected for the GB Under 23 team for the European 10,000m next summer”.
The RGS community congratulates George on his continued success and wishes him all the best for his forthcoming races and exams.
