The Launch of The Worcesterian
We are delighted to announce the launch of The Worcesterian which looks back at the academic year 2021-22. The purpose of The Worcesterian is to celebrate all that goes on at RGS Worcester in every aspect of School life.
The Worcesterian for the academic year 2021-2022 chronicles a year that thankfully saw the freeing up of restrictions during the year as we came out of the Pandemic and learned to live with Covid-19 nationally.
As a result, we have the full programme of experiences included for each Academic Faculty as well as Co-Curricular activities and charity work, with some exceptional opportunities provided for pupils. Across the School, pupils and staff thoroughly appreciated returning to some form of ‘normality’, seizing each and every opportunity with more enthusiasm than ever before.
Our pupils recorded superb achievements academically, in Sport, Music and Drama. Highlights include five RGS pupils representing England and Great Britain and other exceptional levels of performance in Sport, alongside everyone participating and enjoying ‘Sport for all’.
We have also seen success in the Arts with a superb musical, some wonderful plays, and excellent concerts, and the return of the Creative Arts Festival in the Trinity Term demonstrating the strength of the Arts at RGS Worcester. The removal of travel restrictions also saw the return of trips and expeditions, culminating in Sports Tours to Canada for Rugby, Barbados for Hockey and Netball, and a Drama trip to Boston and New York.
More than anything else, we have seen the strength of the RGS community in our response to the crisis caused by the war in Ukraine, The RGS Worcester Family of Schools provided significant support through fundraising in our Ukraine Appeal, and we also saw three members of our Support Staff travel to the Ukraine border to provide assistance. All four RGS Schools arranged for 11 Ukraine pupils to join the School and we organised ‘get-together’ meetings for Ukrainian people locally so they could build a network and support each other. The response was exceptional and continues into this new academic year.
We also reflect in The Worcesterian on the Platinum Jubilee last summer, before we marked the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the period of national mourning last September. We celebrate being the ‘Royal’ Grammar School and our long association with the Royal Family from the granting of the Royal Charter in 1561 to the present day.
The Worcesterian chronicles of all these activities and more. To learn more about an exceptional year at RGS Worcester we are pleased to offer you a digital version of The Worcesterian (Click here to read more).
Sustainability is an important part of our vision at The RGS Worcester Family of Schools. ‘Let’s Go Zero’ is a fantastic initiative and one to which we are committed.
We will have a limited number of printed copies available and so, if you would like to order a paper version then we can arrange this. Please send an email to Marketing@rgsw.org.uk and put ‘Worcesterian’ as the Subject heading.
