RGS Worcester Welcomes Dr Simon Hyde, General Secretary of HMC
This week, we had the privilege of welcoming Dr Simon Hyde, General Secretary of HMC (The Heads’ Conference) to RGS Worcester.
Established in 1869, HMC stands as the world’s first Heads’ association, comprising Headteachers from some of the finest schools globally. With a membership that includes 300 Heads in the UK and Ireland, along with an additional 60 international members, HMC plays a pivotal role in shaping the landscape of education. These schools collectively educate over 250,000 students, constituting roughly half of all independently educated pupils in the UK. From renowned boarding schools to exceptional day schools like RGS, HMC exemplifies excellence in education. Dr Simon Hyde, as the General Secretary, leads the HMC team.
During his visit, our School Captains, Catherine Broadbent, Callum Butler, Callum Lockett and Isabelle Thompson took Dr Hyde on a tour of the School where he enjoyed the chance to meet staff and pupils. During his tour, he particularly commented upon our Digital Learning, our engagement with the local community and our future plans. He also talked about the positive ‘feel’ of the School, and the welcoming and friendly approach of everyone he came across.
Dr Hyde wrote after his visit, “Thank you for the opportunity to visit RGS Worcester. It was a great pleasure to meet the leadership team and be so beautifully guided around the School by the four School Captains, Catherine, Izzy, Callum and Callum, meeting some of the staff and seeing the facilities. One of my favourite parts of my job is having the opportunity to visit schools and see first-hand the excellent ways they are being led by HMC members. Your work with the local community and innovation in terms of technology are very impressive as indeed are the future developments being planned for RGS.”
Our thanks to Dr Hyde for taking the time to visit RGS and make the journey from HMC Central Office in Market Harborough.
