Upper Sixth Student Selected for 2024 Six Nations
Congratulations to Upper Sixth student, Haineala (Ala) Lutui who has been selected to be part of the Red Roses 2024 Elite Player Squad for the upcoming Under 18 Women’s Six Nations Festival.
Ala was included in the squad following the successful completion of two rounds of England Rugby Centre of Excellence fixtures at the start of the season.
On receiving her second call-up for England Rugby Ala commented “ I was happy and very excited when I received news of my selection for the England training squad. I am looking forward to the match against Ireland.”
In preparation for the Festival, Ala, alongside her fellow Red Roses, will face Ireland Under 18 Women in a training match on 2 March. The team will gather at Wellington College before making their journey across the Irish Sea.
This will be Ala’s second England Rugby cap. However, her sporting prowess extends beyond the Rugby field as Ala is also an integral member of the RGS Worcester Netball 1st VII team. She played a key role in ‘Superball’ last year and will be playing at the Regional Finals this Sunday.
Ala’s father, Aleki Lutui, who was also a Rugby international, representing Tonga throughout his career and playing for Worcester Warriors and is now a Rugby coach at RGS Worcester, expressed his joy, saying, “We are very proud of Ala for being selected. She has worked extremely hard and made a lot of sacrifices over the last few months which have really paid off with this selection”.
The RGS community congratulates Ala for her England call up and we wish her the very best at the Six Nations Festival.
