County Rugby Success for RGS Pupils
RGS Worcester pupils enjoyed a successful weekend of County Rugby after being selected to compete in the Under 15 Four Counties Championship Festival, representing Worcestershire and Herefordshire against strong regional opposition.
Eight pupils were selected to represent their counties, with seven playing for Worcestershire and one pupil, Oscar Greenwood, representing Herefordshire. Those selected were Oscar Martin, Will Battle-Welch, Hamish Ebbage, Joe Luckman, Charlie Nicol, Reuben Coleman, George Fletcher, and James Pitt. The festival brought together County sides from Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire and Greater Birmingham, offering a high standard of competitive rugby.
Worcestershire were crowned overall tournament winners, with RGS pupils playing a key role throughout the festival. The team won two of their three matches across the weekend, with strong performances across the squad.
Will Battle-Welch captained Worcestershire during the final match of the tournament, demonstrating leadership and versatility across the competition.
Headmaster Mr John Pitt commented: “Selection at County level is a significant achievement and reflects the hard work, commitment and talent of the pupils involved. To see so many pupils representing their counties, and contributing to a tournament-winning side, is something they should be extremely proud of.”
The festival provided an excellent opportunity for pupils to test themselves at representative level and to gain valuable experience competing against strong county opposition, further strengthening representative sport at the School.
