Lest We Forget
The annual Remembrance Day Service took place today which gave pupils, Teachers and Support Staff, the opportunity to honour and pay their respects to those who gave their lives in the two World Wars and in other conflicts.
A commemorative Remembrance film was broadcast at the Service in Perrins Hall and across the School. The Remembrance Service was introduced by the Headmaster who referred to existing conflict in Israel and Gaza as well as the War in Ukraine and its impact. The Service was led by the County Chaplain of the Royal British Legion in Worcestershire and the President of the Worcester City Branch of the Royal British Legion also attended. There was a moving performance from the RGS Chamber Choir and the Guard of Honour was from the School’s Combined Cadet Force.
Wreaths were laid by the School Captains at the First World War and Second World War memorials in Perrins Hall which commemorate the eighty-three RGS Worcester alumni who gave the ultimate sacrifice.
Understanding and cherishing the past is always important at RGS Worcester and the act of Remembrance provides the opportunity to remember the service and sacrifice of the Armed Forces and other Services.
We will also be observing the national Two-minute silence at 11.00 am on Saturday 11 November at our Sixth Form Open Morning, where Sixth Form students will lower the Flag and perform The Last Post in The Quad.
