Competitive Degree Apprenticeships Success
Congratulations to Upper Sixth students Lydia Jackson and Oliver Giles for securing offers for highly competitive Degree Apprenticeship courses for the next academic year.
A Degree Apprenticeship provides the opportunity to pursue a full Undergraduate or Master’s degree while actively working. These Apprenticeships typically span from three to six years, depending on the level of the course. Degree Apprenticeships are rising in popularity as they allow the apprentice to gain valuable experience in a professional role, earn a salary, and simultaneously achieve a Degree qualification. Another benefit of this route of study is that the company sponsoring the Apprenticeship covers the tuition fees. As such, Degree Apprenticeships offer a different and funded route to traditional University courses.
Lydia has been offered a coveted place on a Degree Apprenticeship programme at RSM, a prestigious global Accountancy firm. Oliver has received an offer from Greenwood Projects for a Quantity Surveyor Apprenticeship, aligning perfectly with his desire to gain practical work experience in an industry that heavily emphasises site visits.
Lydia’s success is the result of a rigorous application process that began back in December when she submitted her application for the Degree Apprenticeship programme. Following that, she underwent tests in Mathematics, English, and Verbal Reasoning, participated in virtual interviews, took another Mathematics test, and finally went through the last round of interviews. Her dedication and perseverance have truly paid off!
Looking ahead, Oliver envisions leveraging the skills and education gained through his time at RGS and his Degree Apprenticeship to pursue independent ventures in the future. He offers valuable advice to aspiring applicants, emphasising the importance of persistence, and keeping an open mind to new opportunities. Oliver believes that opportunities present themselves unexpectedly, and it’s crucial to explore various options until the time comes to make a decision.
We commend Lydia and Oliver for their exceptional achievements for these highly competitive courses and wish them the very best as they embark on their exciting journey as Degree Apprentices when they leave RGS Worcester this summer.
