‘1 in 700’: Arkwright Engineering Scholarship
Congratulations to Rupert Hobson who has been awarded an Arkwright Engineering Scholarship for the Sixth Form.
Arkwright Scholarships are national awards which give those students looking to study Engineering or Physics additional funding and support. They are extremely competitive with over 700 candidates being invited for interview from across the UK.
RGS Worcester pupils Zak Crowther-Green, Noah Davison, Oskar Matysiak and Rupert Hobson, now in the Lower Sixth, all successfully negotiated the initial stages of Arkwright’s rigorous Aptitude Test and Personal Statement process being called for interview.
Although Zac, Noah and Oskar were unsuccessful in securing a final Scholarship, they should be congratulated for reaching the interview stage, an accolade in itself, from the thousands of top Engineering students across the country who applied. They show great potential and are encouraged to continue to follow a path into Engineering or a similar career.
We look forward to watching Rupert and the other budding Engineers progress as they refine their choices and further delve into the world of Engineering.
John Pitt, Headmaster, commented, “Well done to all of our applicants for the Arkwright Scholarships. This process has become ever more competitive and so it is wonderful to see RGS pupils do so well. To achieve a Scholarship is a very significant achievement and Rupert will join a long-list of RGS pupils who have received this recognition over the years and are listed on the Honours board in the Design Technology department. Many congratulations.”
