Mr Witt’s Moroccan Mountain Challenge for Mental Health
During the October Half term, Professional Cricket Coach, Mr Adam Witt, will be taking on an extraordinary challenge to raise funds and awareness for two charities close to his heart, The Cricketers’ Trust and the Professional Cricketers’ Association.
Mr Witt, alongside a group of past and present professional cricketers including Fran Wilson and Stuart Meaker, will embark on a demanding hike across Morocco’s Atlas Mountains, culminating in a climb to the summit of Mount Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa. The trek will take place on 22 and 23 October and is designed to raise vital support for cricketers facing mental health challenges.
Mr Witt’s motivation for this endeavour comes from a deeply personal place. Reflecting on the loss of his former coach and close friend in 2022, Adam explained: “To be able to take on this amazing opportunity to support a charity that means so much to me is a real honour. In November 2022, I lost not only my coach but also a dear friend of mine. He was given only six months to live in the early months of 2022 but never let anyone in to talk about it. He held it within himself, and it affected his mental health more than it should have. I want to support this charity in any way I can so that other cricketers, past and present don’t feel like they are alone with their mental health.”
Since joining the RGS Worceter Sports Department as a Professional Cricket Coach in September 2024, Mr Witt has been a valued member of the team, bringing extensive coaching experience from both academic and professional environments. He is also the Lead Coach for Worcestershire County Cricket Club’s Under 11 Boys Pathway Programme, alongside his playing commitments for Barnards Green Cricket Club and competitive Mixed Netball with Worcester Netball Club.
Mr Witt’s charity trek promises to be a test of both physical and mental endurance, but one that will make a real difference to the cricketing community.
