Remembering Connor Maher
The RGS Worcester community was deeply saddened to learn of the sudden passing of our colleague, Connor Maher, a valued member of the Holroyd Howe Catering team. Connor passed away last week and his loss has come as a great shock to his family, friends, and all who knew him.
Connor was known at RGS for his hard work, warmth, and generosity of spirit. Headmaster, Mr John Pitt, said: “The family gave us the tragic news of Connor’s death and all of our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time. Connor worked here at RGS Worcester as one of the Holroyd Howe Catering team. He was an exceptionally hard worker who always got into work early and supported his colleagues.”
Beyond his work at RGS, Connor was also well known in Worcester for his musical talent. A gifted singer and guitarist, he performed both as a solo artist and with the Connor Maher Quartet, sharing his passion for music with audiences across the city, particularly at the Marrs Bar, which is owned by his father. He also brought his skills as a chef to the wider community, working in local venues such as Boston Tea Party in Worcester.
Tributes have poured in from across Worcester, with many remembering Connor as “an absolute gem of a man” who “lit up every room he entered.” Friends, colleagues, and members of the music community have spoken of his kindness, energy, and creativity, while a fundraiser in his memory has already raised thousands of pounds in support of his wife and children. The Worcester News reported about Connor and celebrated his achievements including his love of music in an article on the front page of the newspaper.
At RGS Worcester, Connor will be remembered for his dedication and professionalism and the warmth and kindness he brought to our School community. Our thoughts remain with his family, friends and colleagues during this very difficult time.
