A Harmonious Celebration of Music in Full Bloom
Last week, the RGS Wind Band comprising wind and percussion players from Years Seven to Ten visited RGS The Grange to take part in their annual Spring Concert. This collaborative Concert was a wonderful celebration of musical talent, featuring pupils from both RGS Worcester and RGS The Grange.
The Concert opened with energetic performances from RGS The Grange’s Wind Band, who played rousing renditions of ‘Hall of the Mountain King’ and ‘Elephant Boogie Woogie’. This was followed by RGS The Grange’s Flute Group’s elegant interpretation of ‘Swan Lake’, accompanied by Miss Dearden, and RGS The Grange’s String Group, conducted by Mr Neville. The choirs from both Schools came together to deliver a moving performance of ‘I Am the Earth’, filling the hall with powerful harmonies.
RGS Worcester pupils continued to impress with outstanding contributions from the String Quartet, Junior Jazz Group, and Wind Band, all led by Mr Adlington. One of the standout moments of the evening was the combined performance of ‘Soul Bossa Nova’, more widely recognised as the theme from Austin Powers, an uplifting and dynamic finale that perfectly captured the spirit of the afternoon.
Congratulations to all of our talented young musicians, and sincere thanks to the dedicated staff who made the Concert possible: Mr Adlington, Mr Neville, Miss Dearden, Mrs Bond, Mrs Keetley-Smith and Mr Soman.
