Greenpower Team Gains Momentum
Over the past two weeks, the Year Seven Greenpower team has been on an electrifying journey with their racing car, ‘Superformance’, taking to the track in two major events. The team has made exceptional progress over the course of the races.
Their first challenge was at the legendary Goodwood circuit, where the car performed smoothly throughout most of the race—until the batteries ran out on the final lap, bringing them to a gradual stop and finishing in 16th place. Undeterred, the team regrouped for the second race of the day, where they pushed harder and had a strong finish in 7th place. Along the way, they began improving the time spent on pit stops and building real team chemistry, although there is always more to learn.
Just 10 days later, the team took their talents to Mallory Park in Leicester for their second race event. This time, ‘Superformance’ and its crew truly shone, finishing 4th in the first race and 5th in the second, with an impressive average speed of 27.3 mph and a total distance of 41 miles covered in a single race. Perhaps most impressively, the team slashed their pit stop times from around 50 seconds down to just 25 seconds, showing how far they have come in such a short time. It was a week of speed, learning, and big wins – both on and off the track! Thank you to the staff for supporting us and organising the car and the team – and for the early starts and late returns.
