1st VII Netball Team Celebrates National Achievement
The 1st VII Netball team reached the highly anticipated ‘Final Fours Day’ in the national ‘Sisters n Sport’ competition at Loughborough University on Thursday 20 March, after an impressive series of victories over the last two terms. The team demonstrated outstanding skill and teamwork, beating some very tough schools along the way, including King Henry VIII School, Oakham School, Ratcliffe College, and Magdalen College School.
In the opening game on ‘Final Fours Day’, the team faced the Marist School and, despite their best efforts and a hard-fought match, the team lost, which led them into the 3rd and 4th place playoff against the exceptionally talented Sedbergh School. This match was nothing short of thrilling. The team showed incredible resilience, playing with speed, physicality and composure under pressure. Every player gave their all, executing their strategies with precision and determination.
In the end, the 1st VII Netball team triumphed with a 16-13 victory, securing an impressive 3rd place. The next day on Friday, the girls had a team recovery session by going swimming after school and then a meal together before they prepared for ‘Superball’ on Saturday evening. The team did extremely well to recover quickly and propel themselves to victory in the University Arena, retaining the University of Worcester Superball trophy for the third year in a row.
