A Festive Showcase of Talent
Last week, the local Barbourne Artists’ Christmas Fair featured six artists, including two members of The RGS Worcester Family of Schools: Art Technician Fliss Osborne and RGS Dodderhill Teaching Assistant Caroline Hall. Their contributions, alongside those of fellow painters Cherrie Mansfield, Margaret Powell, Nicola Currie, and textile artist Jane Arthur, created a diverse and inspiring display of artwork and handcrafted items.
Fliss Osborne and Caroline Hall showcased their talents with unique Christmas gifts, including paintings, limited-edition prints, coasters, and textiles. The fair offered visitors a chance to purchase one-of-a-kind festive gifts while celebrating the achievements of RGS staff members and their artistic endeavours.
Fliss reflected on the event, saying:
“The Barbourne Artists’ Christmas Fair was a resounding success. We were thrilled to welcome over 200 visitors, who praised the high quality and diversity of artwork on display, as well as the unique gifts. We would like to thank the RGS Art Department for the loan of the exhibition display boards, without which the event would not have been possible.”
Also reflecting, Caroline shared: “This year’s second Christmas event for the ‘Barbourne artists’ was a great success. It is the third event for six local women who create in textiles, pottery and paint. It was a joy to see our church hall full of young and older people excited about art in Worcester and share our passion for creating. Hearing how we inspired someone to pick up a paintbrush is always wonderful. Our next exhibition will be in the spring, and we are already planning new artwork, especially for this event. We are also grateful for the assistance of RGS in helping with these events and the Art Department for supplying the exhibition boards”.
Coinciding with Worcester’s Victorian Christmas Fair weekend, the event provided a warm and festive atmosphere, allowing attendees to enjoy a unique shopping experience and support local artists. Very well done to all involved, and we hope that the next exhibition in Spring will be a great success!
