Starting the Season with Success
Following a rewarding Preseason and Senior Rugby Tour to South Africa, the Rugby season has started with remarkable success, securing 34 wins out of 41 fixtures, showcasing the depth of talent across all Year groups. A particular highlight has been the progress of three teams into the second round of their respective National Cup competitions: special mention should go to the Under 14s who delivered a resilient performance in dreadful weather conditions to achieve victory over King’s School Worcester, while the Under 15s claimed a hard-fought win against Malvern College.
The transition of the Lower School into Senior Rugby has been seamless, with all teams currently unbeaten—an impressive achievement that demonstrates the development and potential within these Year groups. The Senior 1st XV team have also made a strong early season statement, winning 4 out of their first 5 fixtures. Among these wins were two thrilling victories against King’s Gloucester and Christ College Brecon, each by one point. The Under 16s have also adjusted well to the step up in competition, with several players making valuable contributions to both the 1st and 2nd XV teams, demonstrating their readiness for Senior-level rugby.
As the season progresses, there is a real sense of optimism and belief in what the teams can achieve this year.
