The Great Year Eleven Bake Off
This week, judges had great pleasure in crowning Poppy Hobson ‘Star Baker’ in the hotly contested RGS Worcester event, The Great Year Eleven Bake Off.
Before Half term, Year Eleven students were challenged to share their baking talents and create a ‘Rainbow inspired Showstopper’, to be judged by RGS Worcester’s very own ‘Prue’ Leeds and ‘Paul’ Morgan. The bake could be sweet or savoury, and students were asked for their designs and creations to brighten our days in ‘lockdown’, whilst paying tribute to the wonderful efforts of our frontline workers.
Poppy’s Showstopper simply entitled ‘Rainbow Cake’, impressed the judges with its perfectly executed seven-layers. As well as the glory of receiving the ‘Star Baker’ status, Poppy won an Amazon voucher and a donation was made to the NHS. Unfortunately, current restrictions prevented Poppy from receiving a ‘Morgan handshake’, but her efforts would surely have secured one in more usual times!
The judges were incredibly impressed by the high standard of entries and would like to thank all students who entered. Alongside Poppy’s Showstopper, Mrs Leeds and Mr Morgan also highly commended: Ellie Allen on the inspiring story behind her entry entitled ‘Out Of The Dark Side, Toward The Light Thanks To The NHS’, Hebe Walsh on submitting the only savoury entry a ‘Rainbow Vegetarian Lasagne’, Annie White on the technical skill displayed in her ‘Rainbow Roulade’, Harry Rutter on his beautifully crafted ‘Rainbow Cheesecake’ and Lara Shaw on the sheer feel-good factor of her ‘Rainbow Surprise’ bake.
Well done to all for an inspiring and colourful array of Rainbow inspired Showstopper bakes!
