Year Seven Make a Splash in the Venetian Riviera
The Year Seven Water Sports Trip to the Venetian Riviera proved to be an adventure, brimming with excitement, energy and plenty of sunshine. After an early start, pupils and staff set off from Birmingham Airport, passports and phones in hand, ready for five days of water sports, Italian culture and shared experiences. Following a smooth flight and onward coach journey, the group arrived at the Bella Italia resort, where, despite a short wait for their rooms, spirits remained high with a stroll along the promenade and the first of many gelato tastings. The day ended with pupils enjoying the resort’s own Parco Aquatico, quite literally sliding into a pool of fun.
The following morning began with an authentic Italian breakfast before pupils headed to the beach to “seas the day.” They embraced paddle boarding, kayaking and sailing, quickly adapting to new skills and enjoying the challenge of the activities. Teamwork shone through when commandeering the giant super-SUP, while the day was rounded off with volleyball, slushies and lively evening entertainment. After a pasta-filled dinner, pupils and staff joined in the Bella Italia variety show, with RGS Worcester pupils taking centre stage and winning the accolade of most entertaining act.
Day three took the group to Caribe Bay, one of Italy’s most popular water parks, where pupils revelled in wave after wave of excitement at the wave machines, rides and lazy river. Staff showed no hesitation in tackling the “jungle jump” while pupils looked on in awe, and mocktails and pizza added to the holiday atmosphere. Pupils represented the school impeccably throughout the day, demonstrating both enthusiasm and excellent behaviour and, fortunately, no one actually turned green on the rides.
Back at the resort, days continued with a rhythm of beachside activities, water sports sessions and plenty of Italian food. A highlight came with a spirited relay race on the water, which saw teamwork, determination and laughter in equal measure. In the evenings, pupils explored the local marketplace (sadly, not a Lidl), immersing themselves in Italian culture and, of course, sampling more gelato. A sunset beach walk rounded off one evening, which turned into an enthusiastic session of sand tunnelling and volcano building, proving that creativity flowed wave after wave.
As the final day arrived, pupils packed up and prepared to wave goodbye to the Venetian Riviera. Before departing, there was just enough time for one last visit to the water park and a final trip into town to enjoy pizza and gelato. Pupils conducted themselves admirably throughout the trip, making the most of every opportunity and supporting one another along the way. The Year Seven Water Sports Trip was a true success, leaving everyone with lasting memories of adventure, camaraderie and water good times.

Headmaster’s note: I received a letter from Managing Director of activ4 School Tours following the trip saying that he would like to “take this opportunity to commend the excellent impression made by your pupils and staff… As a former teacher myself, I fully appreciate the dedication and hard work that goes into organising and delivering school trips… I would like to extend my sincere thanks to your Party leader and their staff. Their energy, commitment and rapport with both students and our team at the resort played a key role in making the trip such a success.” It is always lovely to read about the positive behaviour of RGS pupils and the commitment of our staff, so well done everyone!
