Year Eleven Pupil Secures Aston Villa Scholarship
Year Eleven pupil Theo Houston has received exciting news that he has been awarded a prestigious two-year Scholarship with Aston Villa Football Club, set to begin on 1 July 2025. Following the completion of his GCSEs, Theo will relocate closer to the AVFC Academy training ground in Tamworth, where he will take up a full-time role as a Scholar and continue his development as a goalkeeper in Aston Villa’s Under 18 team.
In addition to a rigorous training and match schedule, Theo will pursue a BTEC Sport qualification, working towards his ultimate goal of securing a professional contract at the conclusion of the Scholarship.
Reflecting on this significant achievement, Theo shared: “I am delighted to have earned a Scholarship. I have worked extremely hard since signing with Aston Villa as an Under 13. Balancing training commitments with schoolwork has not always been easy, but RGS has been fantastic in helping me manage the demands of both School and Football. I am very grateful for the support I have received. I will be sad to leave RGS, but becoming a Scholar at Villa is a big step towards my dream of becoming a professional Footballer, so I will give it everything I’ve got.”
Theo’s accomplishment is a testament to his dedication and resilience, and the entire RGS Worcester community wishes him every success in this next chapter of his Football journey later this year.
