Three RGS Students Receive Coveted Oxbridge Offers
We are delighted to announce that three RGS Worcester students received offers from the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge. Daniel Foster, Samuel Taylor, and former student Joshua Fisher continue the School’s strong tradition of academic excellence by securing places to pursue their chosen degree courses.
Daniel Foster has been offered a place to read Classics with Asian and Middle Eastern Studies at Magdalen College, Oxford. Samuel Taylor has received an offer to study Natural Sciences at Trinity College, Cambridge, while Joshua Fisher has been offered a place to read Theology at Oriel College, Oxford.
Competition for places at both Universities is exceptionally fierce, making their success all the more impressive. Securing an offer requires outstanding academic ability, dedication, and perseverance, as well as successfully navigating a rigorous admissions process, including entrance tests, submission of written work, and interviews. We are incredibly proud of their achievements.
Daniel Foster said: “I think that studying at Oxford is the best opportunity I could have at this stage to grow socially and intellectually and make my ambitions for my life more possible. Getting an offer from Magdalen was a huge relief and confidence boost after the uncertainty of the application process, and I am confident that when I get the grades and begin in October, I will be grateful that I applied and was encouraged so much by Dr Russell”.
Similarly, Samuel Taylor said: “I could not be more pleased to have received an offer to read Natural Sciences at Cambridge and to have the opportunity to learn Physics at the same College where the likes of Isaac Newton studied. I am hugely grateful for the help I have received from all my teachers. Still, I would especially like to thank Dr Smith, [the Head of Science] for both the academic and invaluable pastoral support he has given during the application process.”
Many congratulations to Daniel, Samuel, and Joshua and we wish them the very best for their A Level examinations and future studies. Thanks also go to Dr Thom Russell for coordinating the Oxbridge programme, as well as to all staff who supported the students with preparation, including an extensive practice interviews programme.
