Teatime Triumph for Year Seven
Year Seven pupils gave us a superb Teatime Concert on Tuesday, providing the final Teatime Concert of this academic year. The Perrins Hall piano was showcased well with piano solos, ranging from Baroque music by CPE through the romanticism of Chopin and more modern music by Einaudi and Hans Zimmer, from Harriet Lester, Carolina de Fano, Hannes Farmer, Sean Yang and Kate Yurchenko. Daisy Swatton, Lucy Smith, Rhys Barker and Emily Cowper all sang songs in theatre or pop genres, whilst Immy Raxter and Erin Reid sang ‘How Far I’ll Go’ from ‘Moana’ as a well-planned duet.
Woodwind playing from Immy Raxter (on the flute) and Andrei Zota on the sax (who was accompanied by his friend Hannes on the piano) balanced the violin pieces given by Annalisa Harris, William Morrissey and Harry Edwards. Finally, Roshan Wijesinghe closed the concert with a Latin-inspired drum kit solo called ‘Do Balanco’.
Of performing in the Concert, Immy Raxter said: “It was a great experience and I enjoyed performing with my friends. I was excited to play and I particularly enjoyed seeing my friends Daisy and Hannes perform, as well as everyone else.”
The Concert shows a strong offering from Year Seven and it has been great to see these pupils proactively prepare for what, for most, was their first solo performance at the Senior School. I congratulate them all for a top-quality Concert.
