Table Tennis Teams Impress at County Championships
The Under 16 and Under 13 Boys’ Table Tennis teams travelled to Bromsgrove School for the County Championships last week. The competition for each age group consisted of a group format by which winners of each group went through to a knockout final. Both teams found themselves amongst large groups of schools, showing the growing popularity of the sport. This included schools such as St. Bedes, Tudor Grange, Blackminster, Bromsgrove, Haybridge and Wolverley.
The Under 13 team performed well, winning most of their matches. However, they narrowly missed out on the top spot, finishing runners-up in their age group.
The Under 16s went one step further and won their age group, meaning they are now through to the West Area Finals where they will face teams from Birmingham, the Black Country, Derbyshire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, and Warwickshire. Another noteworthy achievement from this team is that this is the third year in a row that they have won the Under 16 County Championship, showing their dominance in the local area.
