Success at Shrewsbury Regatta
The RGS Worcester Boat Club attended the Shrewsbury Regatta last Saturday and, out of 10 entries, RGS had two wins, four finals, four semi-finals, and two first-round knockouts.
Olivia Hodgson and Lucy Whiteley, Junior Sculling Regatta, won their race in WJ17 Double Scull and Olivia Hodgson won the WJ17 Singe Scull race.
The J15 quad of Oliver Maggs, Sian Fu, Noah Chilton, Zac Johnson and Toby Prendergast made the band one final, knocking out their opposition, King’s School, in the semi-final. The band two crew, Bruno Bond Evans, Ethan Taylor, Oliver Jukes, and Thomas Pound, coxed by Sam Taylor, did the same in their event. Emily Anderson and Emma Pepperall worked hard in their Singles during training and raced well in the competition.
Meanwhile, back at the Boathouse, our coaches Mr Hales and Mrs Whiteley ran our usual Rowing activity and an extended Year Nine session in Singles and Doubles. The weekend provided an excellent opportunity to spend more time together and learning.
It was a successful weekend for all – both those at performance level competing in the Regatta and for those early in their Rowing careers and enjoying time on the water.
