RGS Worcester Partnership Events Inspire and Engage Local Pupils
Over the past few months, RGS Worcester has proudly hosted a range of Partnership events, welcoming pupils from local schools to engage in enriching activities including Music, Debating and Sport. These events offered exciting opportunities for younger pupils to develop new skills and interests and gave RGS pupils a chance to lead, support and share their interests with others.
In March, we welcomed Years Two and Three pupils from Our Lady Queen of Peace, for a special Music Partnership event. The children enjoyed a short performance in the Music Room followed by an engaging session with the Wind Band in Perrins Hall. Designed to broaden their understanding and appreciation of music, the event was a clear success. Mr Clarke, who accompanied the group, said: “The children thoroughly enjoyed it. The whole session was very enlightening, and the children were engrossed in the music. It was a wonderful experience in broadening their understanding of music.”
This week in Music, 170 pupils from local primary schools enjoyed our ‘Let’s Sing!’ Partnership event organised by the Music department. The pupils loved joining in singing led by Mrs Tilling, Music teacher at RGS and herself a professional singer. It was wonderful to see so many pupils come along and really enjoy the experience.
Also this week, we were delighted to welcome pupils from RGS The Grange and RGS Springfield for a Year Five Debating morning. Supported by Sixth Form students from the Senior School, the visiting pupils took part in lively Debating sessions before enjoying lunch at RGS Worcester. The day helped develop confidence and public speaking skills and served as the first of many fantastic transition opportunities for pupils from the RGS Prep Schools to experience life at the Senior School.
Sporting events have also been a highlight. We were pleased to host six local primary schools for our Primary Schools’ Football Tournament, with 15 exciting matches played across the afternoon. Another highlight included the annual Primary Schools’ Netball Tournament, where nine local schools joined us for the afternoon, with an impressive 36 matches taking place. Our thanks go to the RGS Sports Leaders from Year Ten, who are working towards their CSLA awards, and members of the Lower Sixth, completing their Level 3 qualifications, for their invaluable assistance with umpiring, scoring and timekeeping. Their enthusiasm and professionalism helped ensure both tournaments ran smoothly, while also providing them with meaningful opportunities to develop their leadership and event management skills.
These Partnership events are a key part of RGS Worcester’s commitment to engaging with the wider community and inspiring younger pupils through enriching experiences. We look forward to welcoming more schools in the months ahead as a continuation of the work that last year earned us recognition as ‘Independent School of the Year for Educational Partnerships’.
