Pupils Perform as ‘The Addams Family’ Takes Centre Stage This Summer
As another exciting year for the Drama Department comes to a close, a group of RGS pupils’ talents will continue to shine as they perform in the WODYS (Worcester Operatic and Dramatic Society Youth Section) production of ‘The Addams Family’ this summer. The hilariously ghoulish comedy will be showing at the Worcester Swan Theatre from 6 to 10 August and features performances by pupils across the RGS Worcester Family of Schools.
The young performers will sing, dance, and perform as part of the larger WODYS company this summer, undertaking various roles. Upper Sixth student Charlie Raven will play the role of Gomez Addams, the famous father of the family who navigates the stressful world of parenthood. Year Eleven pupil Megan Hepple and Year Eight pupil Lexie Small are also featured as soloists in the show, both taking the spotlight within the opening number ‘When You’re an Addams’. They will be performing alongside Year Ten pupil Eli Clements, Year Nine pupil James Keetley-Smith, and Year Seven pupil Daniel Keetley-Smith as members of the chorus of ancestors. Pupils from the wider RGS Family are also taking part, with Neve Raven from RGS The Grange and Edie Jones from RGS Springfield. Finally, we should give special mention to Upper Sixth student Helena Stockford-Parsons as she takes on the post of Assistant Stage Manager backstage.
Upper Sixth student Charlie Raven spoke about the production and said: “The opportunity to work on such a professional show has been very exciting, and it’s also been great to work with so many RGS pupils. This show is a great laugh, and I would encourage anyone who can to come down and watch it this August!”
Year Eight pupil Lexie Small added: “I joined WODYS this year, and they were so welcoming. I have really enjoyed working on this thrilling show and cannot wait to perform.”
The RGS community greatly supports these young performers, and we wish them all the best for the production this summer.
