Mrs Witcomb Serves Up Success on the International Tennis Stage
We are all aware of Head of Drama, Mrs Jilly Witcomb’s prowess on the stage, but did you know she is also a mean Tennis player?
A key Manor Park Tennis Club player, Mrs Witcomb has helped her team secure numerous league titles in both ladies’ and mixed doubles. Her commitment to the sport has also made her a vital member of the H&W O40’s county squad, where she has excelled as captain for several seasons. In addition, she regularly competes for Hereford & Worcestershire in the O35’s County Cup, held annually in Eastbourne.
This year, Mrs Witcomb reached an exciting new milestone in her Tennis journey, competing in International Tennis Federation (ITF) tournaments. After strong showings in various UK events, she earned her first singles and doubles titles at the Liverpool ITF in April. Building on that success, Mrs Witcomb claimed her second singles ITF title at the Malvern Masters and finished as runner-up in the doubles.
Her recent achievements have qualified her for the prestigious ITF British Grass Court Senior Masters Championships at Wimbledon, where she has competed at Aroangi for the past two years. Reflecting on her recent triumphs, Mrs Witcomb said, “I am enjoying my Tennis more than ever before and am incredibly proud to have represented the county as well as play at the ITF events. Now the hard work continues, and I look forward to the opportunity to play in an ITF in Europe in the future and continue to increase my master’s ranking.”
Congratulations to Mrs Witcomb for such impressive achievements! We look forward to hearing more exciting updates.
