Having a Field Day
Last Friday, pupils from all Year groups enjoyed the opportunity to extend and enrich the curriculum with Field Day trips. Year groups visited different locations and had fun participating in a variety of activities. Year Seven pupils had an adventurous time at Oaker Wood Activity Centre, whilst Year Eight explored the exotic animals of West Midlands Safari Park and Year Nine observed the animal conservation and research at Bristol Zoo.
Pupils from Year Ten to the Upper Sixth were divided into their elected groups with pupils participating in Duke of Edinburgh Award Expeditions, Combined Cadet Force (Army, Navy or RAF) trips, specialist trips for Sixth Form EPQ and CTEC students, and a range of activities held onsite, such as House Drama.
Here is what the Royal Navy Section enjoyed on their trip to Top Barn:
“The Royal Navy Section got their first taste of action on the water when they travelled to Top Barn under some glorious weather conditions. The cadets underwent a circuit of three activities, which included raft Building, kayaking and practical leadership tasks. All activities were completed successfully and with good humour. The latter was demonstrated most ably by the Senior Rates who turned up in Hawaii-style shirts and hats. This brought a smile to everyone’s faces and set the tone for a very enjoyable and active day in the sunshine!”
