Further National Success in Beach Sprint Rowing
Last Sunday, Sixth Form student Olivia Hodgson and former RGS student Menna Sutton participated in the Home International Beach Sprint Regatta. This exciting event featured the four ‘Home Nations’ (England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales), building on the tradition of the Home International Rowing Regatta. The Regatta is known for launching many Olympians into their first international competitions, and the Beach Sprints aim to establish a pathway for emerging rowers to join the Great Britain and Ireland national teams in the years ahead.
Former student, Menna, impressed, representing Wales in the Under 23 mixed double category, finishing second in the A Final.
Upper Sixth student, Olivia, fresh from competing for GB at international level in Italy, excelled in the Under 19 Single time trial, securing a first place ranking which advanced her into the knockout rounds. Her impressive performance culminated in her overall victory in the event.
Congratulations to Olivia and Menna for such impressive achievements.
Following Lucy Whiteley’s achievements of becoming Under 19 Welsh Champion and reaching the quarter finals of the international competition for GB, it is rather wonderful to see her GB team mate, Olivia, become Under 19 Champion in this Home International competition and Menna also continue to perform at such a high level in Beach Sprints. It must be fair to say that RGS Worcester is the most successful school in Women’s Beach Sprints!
