For The Love Of Scrubs
Over the last two weeks Mrs Bishop and Mrs Matthews from the Textiles Department have produced over 50 scrub sacks that have been sent to the charity ‘For the Love of Scrubs’ who have rapidly responded to the need for scrub supplies in the local area.
The Worcestershire branch of the charity has been set up to provide scrubs, scrub sacks, headbands and hearts to community hospitals and hospices as well as the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. Mrs Bishop applied and has been shortlisted to sew for the Worcestershire Acute Trust, as part of a team they are working towards producing 3000 scrubs for the NHS through ‘For the Love of Scrubs’ charity. They will be working to technical specifications with fabric and trimmings provided by the charity and will operate the small-scale batch production from home. Mrs Matthews has also made a batch of scrubs for the Birmingham branch of the charity and we have been told that these are now in use at Walsall Manor Hospital.
Mrs Hunt, Head of Art, and Mrs Kettle, Spanish Teacher, have also been producing bags and masks to support people within our local community. Not only the staff, but students have been inspired to support the National effort too. Jasmine Atkinson, Upper Sixth, has made a number of adult and child face masks and she is also starting to make scrubs from her home.
