Exploring the Wonders of Science at the University of Warwick
Our Year Ten pupils recently had the exciting opportunity to attend the ‘Science in Action’ day at the University of Warwick. This dynamic event featured five highly interactive sessions designed to deepen pupils’ understanding of key scientific principles and showcase the wonder of science in action.
Throughout the day, expert speakers from academia and industry delivered captivating talks, offering fascinating insights into their fields and inspiring the next generation of scientists. Pupils were enthralled by a range of thought-provoking topics, including ‘How to Freeze a Human,’ ‘The Science of TikTok,’ and ‘The Human Guinea Pig: Inside the NHS… and Tom!’ These sessions not only expanded their scientific knowledge but also highlighted the real-world applications of science in everyday life and future careers.
The event encouraged active participation through engaging polls, quizzes, and opportunities for pupils to pose questions directly to the speakers. A special session on examination success provided valuable strategies for helping pupils excel in their GCSE Science exams, equipping them with essential skills for academic achievement.
This experience broadened our pupils’ understanding of complex scientific concepts and demonstrated the diverse ways in which science intersects with everyday life and future careers. We extend our thanks to the University of Warwick for hosting such an inspiring day and for sparking a new wave of enthusiasm for science among our pupils.
